First of all, HEY EVERYONE! Been a while. (Job transition, etc.)

My site has been running exceptionally well thanks to the help and support that you all provide here. Well, with one exception Smile.

One of my moderators had notified me that he had submitted a news topic, which doesn't show up in my awaiting submissions. So just out of curiousity, I tried to submit them myself, and he was right. I had also tried to just create a new news topic to be displayed on the homepage, and it looks as though everything worked fine, however the topic doesn't show up on the homepage.

Forgive me if I may seem a little slow, I haven't really worked much on the site in the past 2~3 months.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have made an upgrade of somekind and the db schema is out of sync with your code.

Surprised

The last upgrade I had made some time ago was to 7.7, in which Chat had assisted me in getting a few things working properly. How would I go about checking the db schema vs. the code? Err...Where would I start ? Smile

UPDATE:

I had manually entered a topic into the database, and it shows up in the news module which is my default module to show in the home page. I had dropped the stories table altogether, and re-populated it based on a backup that I regularly make. Still, when myself or a user tries to submit news, I check the submissions, and approve and try to post the news, and it still doesn't post. It also does not populate a new row in the stories table. Even as site admin, if I go to just post a new story, it will not post.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

Use phpMyAdmin and look at the table structure. Then, compare that to the table structure in the original SQL.

Thanks again for the quick reply, Raven. I wasn't really thinking and decided to browse the NukeCops forums. I found a fix posted Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!. Somehow, when I looked at my tables, I was missing the 'associated' row in the table, as well as the key 'sid' 'sid' value. Not sure exactly why it wouldn't work, but I'm glad it does.

Thanks again! Always a great help here!

Now on to the next part of the problem. Users cannot post comments to any news stories. Is there a seperate table in the database for this function?

Is it that they can't post, but try? Or do they not even get the "Comments" link? Are Comments Allowed in your preferences?

The comments are allowed in the preferences. Once a comment is posted, it shows that there are comments available, however if you were to click on the link, no comments are displayed. In the database, it also shows that there are comments, however there are zero lines returned.
