Hi;

I am using PHP-Nuke 7.7 and am having a problem with the fake email input in Your Account. It doesn't seem to work at all. I have tried it both as an admin and as a regular user. The Member List always seems to show the real email, not the fake one. How is the fake email finction supposed to work?

I tried a forum search using 'fake email' and didn't come up with any relevant info.

Thx.

Terry

There is a setting on each account: Always show my Email Address - is that set to Yes?

I quess thats my problem too.I m using Nuke 6.5.
Always show my email is set to "No" but it shows the real email address instead of the fake email. Also without fake email it shows always the email. What could that be ? Possible something with the viewtopic.php ?

Any ideas ?

edit:Fixed the email problem in the database table nuke_user. If i choose "No"it doesn´t show anymore the email address but it doesn´t show the fake email. It´s mysterious.

I have 'Always Show My Email' set to 'No' as well and it still doesn't seem to work. Several of my users have pointed this out and I have tested it too. What's the point in having it if it doesn't work? Smile

This is a follow up to my previous posting on another thread and is proving this matter to be a nightmare.

I have set up 3 computers:

The first PC IS logged in to my nuke website as a registered user account: USER 1

The second PC IS logged in to my nuke website as a registered user account: USER 2

The third PC is NOT logged in to my nuke website and is an ANONYMOUS user

On PC 1, in the Registered users 'Personal Information' page/panel, I have switched the 'Always show my Email Address' option (for USER 1) to 'NO' and this is the result when looking at the users profile at the module userinfo-USERNAME.html (which is the URL you would go to when clicking on a users name via the User Info Block, for example):

On PC 2 the Real E-mail address IS NOT displayed.

On PC 3 the Real E-mail address IS NOT displayed, (and neither is the Fake Email address).

I then switched the 'Always show my Email Address' option on (PC 1, for USER 1) to 'YES' and this is the result when looking at the users profile at the module userinfo-USERNAME.html (which is the URL you would go to when clicking on a users name via the User Info Block, for example):

On PC 2 the Real E-mail address IS displayed.

On PC 3 the Real E-mail address IS displayed.

So, this suggests that everything is working perfectly.

However, the situation is different when the above is done, but you are looking at the users profile on the PHPBB Forums.

On PC 1, in the registered users 'Personal Information' page/panel, I have switched the 'Always show my Email Address' option (for USER 1) to 'NO' and this is the result when looking at the users profile on the PHPBB Forums:

On PC 2 the Real E-mail address IS displayed.

On PC 3 the Real E-mail address NOT displayed, (and neither is the Fake Email address).

I then switched the 'Always show my Email Address' option on (PC 1, for USER 1) to 'YES' and this is the result when looking at the users profile on the PHPBB Forums:

On PC 2 the Real E-mail address IS displayed.

On PC 3 the Real E-mail address IS displayed.

So, (apologies for the protractile, nonetheless thorough research above), but to confirm, in a nut shell, the 'Always show my Email Address' option does not work when viewing a users profile via the PHPBB Forums.

I would also like to point out that the above had to be done so thoroughly, because an added cookie issue, 9where I think, the PC remembers your cookie even when you log out), made proving this with a single PC a nightmare.

Now over to the tech experts...Can someone please provide a solution to this problem?

Oh...And where does the Fake e-mail 'come it to' all this?...Where is it used and what is its purpose?

tangoman thats really yery interesting.

I checked the function but it makes me crazy.
Also I found a problem with my useravatar. Its sounds like a bug when the database table nuke_users show email set to 0 and I afterward look into my phpBB forum and the email is displayed. But I´m using nuke 6.5. Rolling Eyes

Well Well Susann!

We meet again but this time 'in public'.

Anyhow, what crazy time do you call this?!...I was up until 6:00am BST last Thursday, trying to complete the main installation of my website.

It sounds like you are ahead of me with understanding the database and tables. I have not yet had to deal with these 'directly' as I have generally administered them via the PHPMyAdmin software.

After corresponding with a couple of experts' here, (particularly Raven and Kevin), I am not sure that using Version 6.5 is a wise move...How long have you been using that? Any chance of upgrqading to 7.6?

sorry for my late answer
I´had a dsl problem today.

Possible that Nuke 7.6 is much better than version 6.5. but I´m not interested as long as the forums module in nuke is always the same also some of our older modules e.g. our point system doesn´t work with any other versions. Fact is, that there isn´t any perfect phpnuke version.

The database repair function is often helpfully but of course doesn´t work if you need some changes in the code.
