Sentinel suddenly causing login errors

All of a sudden this afternoon, while adding a new category to my downloads area, Sentinel blocked me out as doing abuse-admin. I was logged in as the administrator at the time. I had to go to another computer to remove that block.

Now I can't log in no matter what I do. I keep getting the following errors:

Any idea what happened??? I am using php-Nuke 7.4 with Sentinel 2.1.3. All seems to have been working okay until this afternoon.

As to the errors...

did you touched the files :
sentinel.php

or the index.php file of your_account?

(btw...you dont have to goto another computer...
Just go into phpmyadmin and take your ip out of the blocked_ip's table...)

the answer here is also no. I have not had any mods to my system since upgrading my Last Visit Module about a week ago, and that did not involve either of these modules.

And if you have sentinel set to write to .htaccess you will need to remove your IP from that as well

Yup, did that first thing. At that time I was getting the Sentinel screen saying I was blocked. Then after using my home PC, I was able to get into the admin functions (due tot he cookie, not due to logging it) and remove the IP address from Sentinel. And the rest is history.

Well Raven, it may have been answered elsewhere, but simple seaches don't always bring an answer to an individual question. Nothing I found helped me. Anyway, it is now fixed. I was lucky enough to have done a complete backup of my domain about 18 hours before this happened. After finally getting the backup file to FTP to my PC, I started restoring what appeared to be the problem, one thing at a time.

First, the sentinel.php file. No luck. Then the complete your_account folder. Again no luck. By then it was so late and I was tired, I quit for the night.

This morning I restored the .htaccess and .staccess files.

SUCCESS!!! Cheers

I can't imagine what happened, but it is working now. The next step, I guess, is to see, from what I have gathered, is what the latest version of Sentinel is and upgrade.

Sentinel has been a very valuable addition to my site and has kept out a number of bad people. Thank you for everything!!! worship

Okay, now I have a really stupid question. Embarassed

As you stated earlier, I can see I am really behind on versions. I'd like to upgrade. But I see all these references to a "patched" php-nuke. Now here comes the stupid question - what is meant by "patched" php-nuke???

I don't think mine is patched and I assume that I would know if it was, correct? If it isn't, what is the advantage to the "patched" version? Confused
