what are the ways protect your contents

I wonder what you all do for protecting your content if someone copy paste it to their sites.what can we do in legal ways who listens our complaints.

sorry for my english

for example i write tutorials/contents at my site and someone takes them and copy to their site and says copyright by himself.I wonder what we can do for they remove them
i tryed mail them and their host but they no answer so are they any other legal steps for they stop stealing

Copyrights are an important part of preserving intellectual property rights here in the United States as well as abroad. There are International treaties in place to preserve the rights of copyright holders, most imporantly the Berne Convention.

If your Copyrights are being violated, you definately have rights and can persue (or in many cases simply threaten) legal actions to protect your property and interests.

I myself have been faced with this situation as an IT Consultant where others were taking credit for my work and actually reselling some of my works illegally. I was not only able to recover all of the monies that those persons earned from illegally distributing my work, but stiff penalties were imposed on the guilty parties by the courts as well.

That´s indeed a big problem the dark site of the www.

in our forums a registered member also stolen completely title+special tips for her own forums. I mail them to remove my content from his site or add the link to us. That´s fair.
But if they don´t answer...

You can create a blacklist and add the names of the thieves.

yes thats what they do almost their host answered me with sayin The Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") but i dont understand well coz of not have a fluent english Sad

An old post but I think this is worth adding to the thread.
I have just dealt (for the 2nd time) with a site that was taking stuff from another site, changing a little and publishing.
I did not get a response from them, I then notified their host, giving dates, my emails to the site admin, and details of the information...and mentioned it was in controvention of the contract between them and their client. I also mentioned that it was possible that they could be named in any proceedings.
Within 18 hrs they closed down the site...though I do not know if it was because of my email to them or what...they also did not reply back to me.

i did contact their host gave my site link and their client site addy but they said bla bla bla sorry we cant do any bla bla

To get a host to do anything u have to give them EVERYTHING PLUS, down to the last detail and able to be substantiated...enough to show them u do have a d*** good case in law.
They deal with this issues every day and 99 out of a 100 the case put is wishy washy to say the least.
They have to see that there is a possible legal threat to them, not their client, and then they will sit up....
Bottom line they make a financial call...not a moral or ethical one...thats business.

they gave me a link that time about laws something my english is not good enought to understand all that terms,words so i gave up.I di give them all links enought if they want to do any thing they would do or would ask about more info but they didnt
