Would you please remember this fine lady in your prayers. Her name is Vera. A significant mass has been found on one of her kidneys. They are doing a dye and CT scan Tuesday to make sure that her other kidney is working correctly, and if it is then they will schedule a surgery to remove the kidney that has the mass on it. She has battled breast cancer before and won. She is a tough lady, but is scared to death of this one.

Yesterday she had dye injected and a cat scan to see if the other kidney was working properly. It appeared to be fine, so I believe the game plan is to remove the whole kidney that has the growth on it. The growth is substantial around the kidney. Thank God for the initial testing for another problem that caught this. She goes back on Oct. 10th for a consult with the doctor. The doctor stated as long as the test came back ok, he was leaning towards removal of affected kidney. Both seem to be working properly right now. Will know whole plan of action on the 10th. Thanks all.

The surgery to remove the kidney is scheduled for Nov. 10th. The test on the other kidney shows that it is working ok. The specialist states she has an excellent prognosis. He did say that it could take up to 6 months to completely recover her strength. Everything sounds positive at this time.

Short follow up. Her surgery took 4 hours today, and it went very well. They were even able to do it orthoscopicly so the incisions were a lot smaller. The mass according to the doctor, was soft in nature, like a hematoma, which was a very unexpected result. They still will be sending it out for evaluation, but he was very optimistic. While they were there, they took the gallbladder also due to stones being present. She had trouble in the past with it. Everything is looking very good, and instead of a front to back incision that they thought they would have to use, they could do it orthoscopicly. THANK YOU JESUS!!!! Now her recovery time will be much smaller, which means my wife will be home a lot sooner...... Cheers

Hopefully she is released today from the hospital. The mass was sent out for evaluation and it indeed was malignant, but the surgeon absolutely thinks that they were able to remove all of it, so she will not be going through kemo or radiation. He strongly feels that there is no need for it. All related areas have looked good. She still is in considerable discomfort, but it is controllable. TY all for your prayers and strength.
