Split by Moderator: I split the below thread out from the thread discussing what folks would like to see included in the new 7.6 distro from Raven. Thought the thread below should stand on its own.
Hi Raven
I am new to Fresh Install... except for the first one of course, I have upgraded before a few times.
Do all the members get lost and all posts in the forums if I follow
the new fresh install with new database and everything.?? How would I keep
my members data and the posts in the forums.??
Can I use my database I have now, or will it overwrite everything clean,
losing all info that was in there.??
Thank you for any help on these questions.
I am running Nuke 76 patched 3.1 with Sentinel 2.3.0 with many add on blocks and modules. I want to clean it up to your package, I have played around in there so much, I don't know what I have anymore for sure.
I stopped upgrading when I saw Bob's posts at NukeScripts.net about 7.7 and 7.8
and felt 7.6 was the best there is, and now I found your great package here.!!
Thank you for all the work you do for PHP NUke users. ![RavensScripts](modules/Forums/images/smiles/ravensphpscripts.gif) |

You're welcome
Saving your users is easy. Posts are a bit more difficult, but can be done. Here would be a general instruction sheet.
- Install my package to completion.
- Using phpMyAdmin, EMPTY your users table in your NEW set up. There's only one record.
- Using phpMyAdmin, EXPORT your users table in your OLD, DATA ONLY. This should produce many INSERT statements.
- Using phpMyAdmin, open a query window in your NEW database and paste the INSERT statements that were exported. Run the query. That should load your NEW users table.
Now, to do the POSTS, you will need to do the same thing for each table that begins with nuke_bb |

You would need to do the same with your articles too if you wanted to save them.
As I am contemplating moving to this distro, I'll be doing a full DB table/field compare as I have a few mods on my site. |

I shudder at the thought of starting over even thu I have a 'notes' folder full of my changes plus notes in files of changes I have made over the last yr on our site.
Even so, after running a test site in Ravens base release, I am very seriously considering doing so. The only thing holding me back is the time..something that I am short on due to work and other commitments at this piont of time.
If running the older 7.5 vers (or anyolder version) I assume one would have to update have to vers 7.6 before saving DB to upgrade to Ravens new release.
It will also be of great help to many if a complete list of essentual core dbs in 1 place/post and breif descriptions that would need to be transfered over.
This sort of information is rather disjointed and scattered between individual posts and even support sites.
I have a high profile in DF gaming, local schools and small business. I feel Raven is on a winner here, and would certainly like to promote his distro further as an upgrade. I have already reconmended it as a new project. |

Hi Guardian2003,
Thank you for your info on the news articles. I saw that when I was in there looking at the users and the bb posts tables.
Steptoe, your right, a lot of extra work, but I will have peace of mind with having Raven's new package installed. I have a working 7.6 but I was looking to upgrade the bb forums from 15 and the Sentinel from 2.03 when I found Raven's package with everything in it already to go. Excellent.!!
Raven, sorry about my placement of my questions. I saw your comment on "Fresh Install" and thought I would ask right there. I wanted to stay in your 76 Package area. Thanks for the new thread. This will help, because I was just going to try an upgrade, but of course reading everything I could about your new package "First" I came across the Fresh Install comment, thanks for that. |

If I have to upgrade to 7.6 before I export and save the db and then upgrade to Ravens custom 7.6 distro then why upgrade to Raven's at all?
What changes to the db are there from 7.3 or 7.4 to Ravens 7.6?
I am thinking of doing this to a friends site who is running unpatched 7.4 and 2.1.0 phpbb with 2.1.1 Sentinal.
But I don't want to spend all weekend on it. |

Hi Raven,
I just upgraded to your distro, I exported my database then installed your distro and imported the tables for my users and forum. I have more than 5000 users and my forum is pretty big with data.
My problem is my 'nuke_bbsearch_wordlist' table is HUGE, around 120,000 lines of INSERT same for my 'nuke_bbsearch_wordmatch' table around 120,000 INSERT lines. Do I really have to import those tables?? Or what impact will it have if I choose not to import them.
In PHPMyAdmin, I can only paste around 5000 lines of INSERT before it times out.
Another thing is I really like the page numbers dropdown for your news in this site, anyway i can get that mod?
Thanks |

What we really need is a version of installSQL.php (BigDump Nuke-I-Fied) that we can type in any SQL dump file name and it will chunk it in...
Not enough time in the day...
checksum, there have been other threads of discussion here which talk about this. What I gathered from the discussion is that these two tables were valid and important (for performance purposes).
I would use a good text editor to split the INSERTS up into the required size files and use phpmyadmin's import from text file process instead of copy-and-paste into the SQL textbox. This might give you more lines in a file and fewer "chunks" to create?
Or, you could review the installSQL.php script that Raven provided and try and figure out how to add your file to the list. If I find the time today to do that, I'll post back here.
I do think having a nuke version of Big Dump would be very helpful to the community. It would read your config.php file as well as have the nuke look-and-feel (header, blocks, footer) and ask you to either type in a filename or better, allow you to browse your file system to pick one, and then it will chunk the file in. Hmmm.. sounds like a new administration module add-in IF the folks at BigDump would accept that "port" for nuke. |

BigDump works on ANY sql file, right out of the box. That's why I went with it. Just export yopur table and make sure the name ends in .sql. Use the BigDump utility from the author's site, or, use the install.SQL.php file and load the exported .sql file to the INSTALLATION folder and run it. Works like a charm ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

You're right raven, works like a charm! Thanks
Now, is there anyway I can get the mod for the news page numbers dropdown? |

For others that are reading this. I started out with nuke 6.5 and have steadily upgraded, though sometimes reluctantly up to V7.5
As I had a fair bit of customisation on my site and one mod in particular that was basically big enough to be an application in its own right I was a little nervous about doing any more work on my site.
However, I decided to take the plunge and and install RavenNuke 7.6 (after donating of course )
My decision was based on a number of factors but the biggest one was excessive resource useage on a dedicated server (sometimes as high as 70% memory useage and 40% sql useage).
I downloaded a copy of my site including the DB, wiped the site and then uploaded Raven Nuke 7.6
Doing a complete DB schema and data compare was time consuming but well worth the efort.
Despite being careful about keeping logs of what mods and tweaks I had installed over the years I spotted a ton of tables and table fields for mods that had since been removed from my site and also quite a few files that were no longer needed.
I now have only one mod left to re-add to my site but so far my DB schema has been reduced from its original 300+ tables to 109 - thats a massive saving of space and resource consumption.
My page load times were an average 1.5 seconds and are now under half a second.
My sql and memory resource usage have come down so far that they are insignificant.
So, if you are debating about whether to use RavenNuke 7.6 what can I say?
The results speak for themselves and for those with heavily modified sites - a little house cleaning can only be a good thing! |

I just did this to a friends site and was done in about 2 hours. I still have to put on bbCode and a few other 3rd party mods but overall it was pretty easy. I give BigDump two thumbs up.
Great job Raven. |
