due to some site problems
I want to reinstall a new fresh copy of phpnuke
I do have cpanel x that would allow me to install 7.7 using fantastico
right now i have 7.6 patched and uses nuke sentinel
any ideas?
I want to complete do a revamped site, due to some bugs that i might have caused

can I just delete the old one , install a new one and restore the database by using the restore db in phpnuke?

please do not use a auto install....lol
and if its about using a higher version of nuke, the one your using is probably the best one at this moment.
but if you wanna go new download ravens 7.6 3.1 in the downloads here,it includes sentinel as well.
But im not sure about the restore...i dont know what patched version you run now.
or just start fresh...

If you do any kind of restore and the version of Nuke that you are restoring from has table differences from the version you are restoring to, you are likely to end up with a pile of s*** on your hands. I know that there are table changes going between many versions of Nuke and also when you apply the patches and when you apply Sentinel. So the likelihood of a pile of s*** is pretty high.

If you have Nuke 7.6 and it's patched to 3.1 and you have Sentinel too then you might be better off identifying what "bugs" you might have caused and what programs they might be in and maybe using selected files from Raven't distribution to overwrite those.

I would be skeptical of any Cpanel type of install. I can't say for sure but my guess is that they are probably of base Nuke without the patches so you will be right back to square one with installing patches and then Sentinel all over again.

If you originally installed your site using cPanel or Fantastico, you can use that to remove your site and database.
If you feel confident enough to do a complete database compare of tables then you can take a back up of your sites database using cPanel -> phpmyadmin - make sure you slect the 'create full inserts' option.

If your site is relatively new, then I wouldnt worry about the database, just remove the site and database using cPanel/Fantastico - double check it has removed all files and then upload RavenNuke7.6 31 from here.

hmm, im not sure if i can install the site manually
i did that once but that was years ago

anyway, a lot of things stopped working, like the web site statistics, the edit story thing, dissappearing post titles, and a lot!

I want to upgrade my site or just reinstall phpnuke again...

Well I stand by my recommendation.
The Fantastico/ cPanel installer is a complete waste of time.
I'll qualify that statement by saying why....
cPanel/Fantastico install can only install the current or nearly current version of phpNuke, so that will probably be version 7.8 or 7.9
Neither of those versions are any good - they are full of bugs, security flaws etc etc - these issued have been covered extensively in other threads.

If you want to start again from scratch with a clean database let me know, I'll be happy to do the install for you.

Provided you have not installed any mods or hacks that have altered the core nuke database you should be able to re-upload a back up of your database without any problems.
If you want me to install RavenNuke 7.6 for you, please PM me;
the web address you want it installed to
ftp log in
cpanel log in
Your desired nuke God admin user/pass
your desired nuke sentinel user/pass
