montego, eventually, yes . What you and the other QA testers are seeing is the foundational steps toward that. The DB part is much more easy than the files. The files are, of course, major issues because of permissions, so it will tend to be much more manual/difficult. One never knows what the future may hold though ..... |

A truly modular system. Nice
I was thinking of how to take my multiple forums hack and making the Forums modular. I know I could learn from what you guys accomplish here. Anyway, good luck |

Personally, I'm wanting to use PHP-Nuke on a more professional/business level versus it's current state; to be more usable like Joomla!/Mambo.
That is what I would like to see for PHP-Nuke or for a group to finally decide to take advantage of PHP-Nuke and provide.
Lite edition just references to core components to operate; ie. admins, users, groups, modules, blocks, and news.
Groups = NSN Groups
News = NSN News
Plus inclusion of NukeSentinel's latest build.
Private messages should be replaced by a internal instant message component that does not rely on presence of phpBB.
Of course I would like to also have a new administration plus rebuild core components to include automatic installations and deinstallations plus automatic upgrades and new template manager to control id placement of component layouts replacing themes with updated css xml skin-sets.
From that point forward, re-writting for inclusion of xhtml and xml plus to accessibility specifications for presence of web 2.0 technologies.
Sincerely - |

I wouldn't mind contributing to these efforts entitled Core-Nuke to represent it's presence and functionality however, that's up to you... and anyone else if they would like to contribute.
That will allow for continous of RavenNuke 76 distro and create a new project to move forward power users of PHP-Nuke. Not to be rude but, I don't think it will ever be that nor is anyone else doing so... a true modular system.
I'm on MSNM all the time, feel free to contact me. Guess it's time to loose the skirt and wear the pants.
I mentioned this to Bob awhile back however didn't have actual goals set for implementation or even a real direction however he mentioned that perhaps CPG-Nuke would be more apprioate to use, not sure of your thoughts on this.
It wouldn't take me long to complete, I already have most of these functions available to insert.
Regardless, perhaps it's something you wouldn't mind supporting or lending a hand to when I get stuck if nobody else helps out is all I really need to get her done.
Let me know, I love the ease of Nuke and the friends I've made.
ps - sorry, didn't mean to rant about.
Sincerely - |

I second that motion!
I would also add to that Cache Lite with Raven's admin tool, but not sure if it has a requirement that might be too difficult to support across multiple hosting companies... |

No offense to Francias however think you'd be happier with the Raven distribution package versus use of Maximus. |

May be 1 more day or so delayed. Why? nuke WYSIWYG (FSK v2.2) integration looks to be complete , thanks to the efforts of KGuske! We are QA testing the editor today mor extensively. |

What a long night... To address Guardian's point, what's different is that it now includes the latest release of FCKeditor, 2.2. The earlier test version I sent you is FCKeditor 2.1. What's new? Well, you can check http://fckeditor.net for the details, but mainly it's the ability to add Flash and some minor bug fixes.
What took so long to test (and, frankly, to get working correctly) is the image / flash upload capability that is available on the admin functions. Even though upload is disabled in the configuration, you can still upload by browsing the server (that's something that needs to change, in my opinion - as well as the ability to dynamically allow or disallow uploads). This is why image and flash functions are disabled for non-admin functions like Submit News.
Anyway, getting the uploads to work correctly without requiring manual configuration changes was difficult, and the solution isn't pretty, but it worked on my test server with Nuke running in a subdirectory. Unfortunately, if you have images defined with relative paths, you won't see them in the editor (you can get around this by using the URL). Unfortunately, I didn't have time to figure out the proper settings to allow uploads without setting the properties of the upload directories to 777. There's always tonight... |

I don't know of any issues with 2.1, so you would only need to update it if something isn't working, you want to upload files through FCKeditor, or you want to add Flash files to your content. |

Guardian2003, 2 other changes that might be relevant:
some of the admin functions didn't work because they used a field named description, which includes the reserved word script, which caused FCKeditor to treat it as an undefined field (weird, really). So I simply renamed the field to desc.
The other change had to do with adding the ability to turn off the editor - at the site-level. This also allows it to be overridden at the function / module level. I also added the ability to disable the editor for crawlers, which I think you requested to save bandwidth. In order to support textareas, 2 additional parameters / arguments were added to the function that specify the columns and rows used by the textarea.
I noticed, in the content area specifically, that the WYSIWYG editor needed to be larger. As soon as I figure out how to make that happen, I'll provide details. |

Thanks again.
Yes I noticed the editor text area height seems a little on the conservative side (see my PM) but other than that and the flash file issue you mentioned, it seems good to go to me.
Excellent work!! |

Thank you for testing and suggesting! I'm glad you like it - but the real tough work was done by Frederico Caldeira Knabben (FCK), Jens Hauge (kses) and our own sixonetonoffun, who suggested using kses and contributed much of the logic and testing for that important part of nukeWYSIWYG. |

Sorry to hijack this thread (Raven, please break it off if you like), but here's a solution to the variable height issue. It requires the latest version of nukeWYSIWYG with the columns and rows argument in function wysiwyg_textarea.
In mainfile.php, function wysiwyg_textarea, after:
Code: @include_once(INCLUDE_PATH."includes/FCKeditor/fckeditor.php");
$oFCKeditor = new FCKeditor($name) ;
|
add:
Code: $oFCKheight = $rows * 20;
$oFCKeditor->Height = "$oFCKheight" ;
|
You can adjust the 20 to 10 or 15 or 30, etc., but I think the default height is 200 and the default rows are 10...
I'll include this in the next update - thanks AGAIN for asking / suggestion, Guardian! |

Anders, sorry I had to remove that link. I couldnt make head not tail of it for all the weird characters in it.
I had been using SPAW for over a year on my phpnuke V7.5 site and it was slow to load. I'm now using FCK and I don't really notice any difference between the two in terms of load time.
Obviously there are a number of factor to consider, like the number of users loading the thing and of course the resources available on the server.
We did discuss the use of SPAW but perhaps you joined the topic after that as I dont see any posts from you.
One thing that FCK does allow is easy configuration of the toolbars, so you can have as many or as few options as you like. If load time is a concern you simply reduce the number of buttons your users have to play with. |

By load, do you mean using it or installing it on your server? Which link are you referring to? Fast is a relative term. If it takes a second longer to display the editor, but saves 20 seconds more by making it easier to maintain content, is that a worthy tradeoff?
Before selecting FCKeditor, I Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! editors (and later updated it). FCKeditor had (and has) the best combination of features, performance, and support. I'm not knocking SPAW or TinyMCE or other editors. They all have benefits. That's why I designed nukeWYSIWYG to be flexible / modular. The idea is to be able to use whatever editor you like. Eventually, I will probably do a SPAW version, but for now, I like FCK.
nukeWYSIWYG is also flexible in that you can choose to turn it off - for everything or for specific functions. It uses an HTML filtering function to provide better security than the alternative (I guess almost anything is better than nothing!). |
