Hi all. I am currently running nuke 7.6 chatserv patched and bbtonuke 2.0.19 with a few added blocks/modules. Most important are the forums and Gallery.

I'd like to know which is going to be my best upgrade path to Sentinel? Should I just do the Sentinel upgrade, or use the entire Raven 7.6 distro...?

Thanks, Will

the Raven Distro has many other add-ons, patches, and repairs that are built in besides Sentinel, i haven't fully had a chance to see if you could... upgrade a site from standard to a RM, but i think, to some degree, u'd have to start a fresh RM7.6 install. or you could research all the repairs possible and implement them in your previously installed phpnuke system

ok, thanks for that. I'll start a trial installation on one of my other unused domains, and try to transfer data across. But I have over 2 gigs of photos, let alone the forum, hehe

winaje, actually, I would have to differ with Maedondias a bit on this one. Unless you really need to have NSN Groups, this distro, as it stands right now, does not have alot of extras. If you don't need NSN Groups, I'd simply upgrade your Sentinel to the latest.

If you are wanting to have some of the functionality that is coming, such as a fully integrated WYSIWYG editor (currently "experimental" but will be core distro in the 2.1 release), then you may want to "switch" to the distro.

By the way, excellent idea to TEST first. So many people ignore even the suggestions of the authors to "backup your database and nuke files" and then run into issues that they struggle to back-out from. You are taking even the better approach of testing your "process" first.

Thanks Montego. I have a couple of old domains that I'm not using, so can do a full install on one of them, then slowly install the blocks and modules I need etc.

I have got about 135 members, and have had 10000 hits so far in January, so it's really important to me to have everything correct before I do an update.

I still have to find out a fair few things, but will trawl through the archives before I ask...

Will
