I installed Raven's distro last night, and REALLY liked it. It's awesome, no doubt! Great install docs too.
I currently have a site up at Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! that uses 7.6 patched (3.1 i believe, with bbtonuke.19 and all). It also has NSN Groups installed, and that's the only really major mod.
After I installed ravens, I began bringing my current database into the new one. I did nearly all of the tables at once (figured it might work OK, since they are the same version). I left out the NSN groups stuff though, so that I would be keeping the tables from Raven's install.
When it was all said and done, all of my blocks on the right side no longer worked. The odd thing was, they worked with *some* of the themes, but not most. I tried a few things, and I'm nearly 100% sure it's the database.
Tonight I'll start from scratch with a fresh install of ravens, and use a couple different test DBs. I'll do the same thing I did last night, bringing all of the tables in and see if the problem is re-created. Then I'll know it's the database at least. I can then try bringing 1 table at a time (that'll be fun) in to see if I can find the culprit. That's the plan at least.
Anyone more intimately acquainted with nuke have any ideas on what it may be? Perhaps a really common issue with this sort of migration from one site to a new install? Thanks ahead of time
Once it's working, I hope to accomplish the following:
1) Get gallery2 working (doesn't work with my current install, so hoping it will with Raven's distro)
2) Install GT/etc, create sitemap, and get some search engine optimization going
3) Sigh of relief |

It's not the database. The right blocks issue is answered in the FAQ |

Not sure, but wanted to find out if Raven distro 7.6 can be installed on top of a regular Nuke 7.6 3.1 without having to having to copy data from databases?
Thanks,

You should be able to, dcasmr. Make sure you run the NSN Groups sql though. It modifies the nuke_modules, nuke_blocks, and nuke_messages tables, and also adds in the groups tables.
This is necessary not only for NSN groups to work, but also to add new modules/blocks. I ran into some problems with my own database because the groups field was missing from those tables.
You should be able to keep your database as long as you run that groups sql. |

I forgot to mention, although you probably already know this. You also have to install the Sentinel tables if you'd like to use raven's distro. It comes with Sentinel pre-installed just like Groups (very useful). These tables need to be in place as well |
