Whats the problem? Its simple...
u find Copyright stuff, u email the admin
So they don't reply in 24 or 38 hrs..
U email their host, quote their hosting rules, copy tour email to the admin and point out that althu they take no responsibility for whats on each site..once they are awhere of it and they don't enforce their own rules It can be argued they can be co named in any suit
If that fails...Then u post a thread like this...
To me that seems the right way to do it. |

and also every contact is taken with the idiot canadian admin,he doesnt give s...t
and the host said i had to mail to a special copyright emailaddress together with all kinds of documents from a to z,..only then they would forward a copyright warning to them,thats all they do.

godaddy is a terrible host when it comes to these things.
i remember complaining about a spammer 2 years ago that was hosted by them,ive send copies of mails, and they never did anything nor did they replied.

well you hear it often...im gonna sew this and that ...thing is attorney's dont gain anything from this.
And the person who starts the lawsuit isnt gonna spend a dime on a copyright issue.
so neither will i ,but i have a better idea...since canadians like to butcher seals let him dress up in a seal costume and run for his life...  |

Well maybe what we should all do then is go to this site, create an account for ourselves, and start a forum topic on his site and do all this converstaion there. That should really raise some eyebrows.
What does everyone think to that? |

and nice idea taz...but that will just start another circus that will lead to nothing.
best thing is to ignore the site,dont publish his s..t and if you realy wanna be a pain in the b..t ask him every day how many seals they clubbed to death.. |

Well we finally resorted to that several times (3)over the yrs in the DF gaming community when all else above failed.
But polite email spam to the host is the one that usually finally fixed things.

If if any issue REALY is important and worth fighting for, opensess, is a critical part of that for creditablty to have respected and responseable ppl to support a 'movement'. I personally have had egg on my face once too often many yrs ago by acting without full disclosure.......
Im a battler from the Anti 'Nam days...and many issues since then, and are infact on a 'mission' now, taking on the NZ Government. The cureent I have been working on to 3 or 4 yrs now. In fact it is my personal agenda for our sites existance. So my adice is from over 20 yrs of real experiance. |

but if i would accept some offered help the site in question wouldnt last long.
but im to old for that....im not gonna fall for any sh...y behaviour...lol
there are other ways....like bringing things in the open like that last theme they offer (copied core contents ) its full with links of their website with a translation of babylon with their website refer in it...,or they forgot it or its just stupid.....i think both...
Im seeing it more and more ,things are made and they fill it up with own author links,thats for google...lol
If its a worth it okay but not for a theme of 30 cents. |

Well it seems the rat called astalavista BD (B stands for bendover and D stands for Dickhead) is doing more then just grabbing my tutorials.
He also is hotlinking to some peoples files.
From someone you all know as well and as a respected member...
But its up to him to put this out in the open,not by me...
He canadian rat...your a leecher also. |

Hey hitwalker, can you detail all of what he's done and send it to me? Theft just rubs me the wrong way, esp as he links to his site a lot. If he can't give due credit and see how this harms the community, then I think a boycott is in order. I will talk to him first and see if he will change his mind |

i have no idea raven,he even linked your stuff...
as montego said in private..he did his very best to find out.
its not fully impossible...
ive checked almost every file and link,all is working....
Most people dont have hotlink protection .everybody that uses sentinel should put www.phpnuke-downloads.com in banning refer blocker.as soon as people click any link on his site they get banned... |

You shouldn't ban innocent people for using his site. Rather pull them to a page explaining hotlinking as theft - and where to go for what they want.
I'll message the guy on Nukezone, see if he can stop the hotlinking to nukeresources and other sites |

If you put up 2 download links,one you have to put the sec code in and the other one is a direct link...what you think people will choose?

I have been silent this whole time because I didn't even realize at the time this thread was about the same site I was all bent out of shape on (in private)!  If it wasn't for hitwalker asking me why I hadn't been responding in this thread, I wouldn't have even looked closer at it... now I understand hit... I can be slow sometimes.
I have avoided banning him in this manner because I really don't want unsuspecting folks to get banned from my site. I just want to keep him from directly linking to my downloads. Will the referrer blocker really ban the client IP addresses? I guess it would wouldn't it.
Well, I downloaded my distro via FireFox and turns out FireFox exposes the download link. Uggghhh... I guess I should have figured that. To be honest, probably THE only way to solve this is to stream the download from a PHP script rather than just redirecting the browser to the download URL... Now, that would make a good download module edition! |

Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but I am just way too worn out from this week already... how can I do this in .htaccess and only affect this guy's hotlinking? I'll do it in an instant! I just don't want to ban unsuspecting folks and I have seen this discussed previously with regards to stealing images (hotlinking really) and I don't recall there ever really being a good solution. And, to top it off, I am no .htaccess guru... 
Really... it has just been one of those weeks and days, so please forgive me... |
