sentinal settings problems

hi
i have installed 7.6
new distro and all went well ,
accept when it comes to sentinal settings i am lost as it tells me what to change but not were to change it, is in the mysql database or the site
the settings tell me in the mysql db their is no
admin author list or at least i cant see this
and i need to change this so that i can see the admin.php is that right

and the site is blank

you have to setup http or cgi access and make your .staccess to setup the admin auth, that info is in the .staccess...... those directions are in there.

there is`nt anything in the stacces file

and i put in the the code for the htaccess which got me to the pop up box but no luck
it just kept on renewing empty, also my user pass was correct ? any answers

Sounds to me like your FTP has failed to upload come files are they may be corrupt. Not sure what client you used, but I would recommend a good one like WS_FTP (not free) or FileZilla (free from SourceForge). Re-FTP all your files.

If that does not work, force your FTP client to FTP all files as binary (i.e., do not let it auto-choose which type of file it is).

no i have re done the upload upload a file at a time and there is nothing in the .staccess file even on my download when i use phpedit to see what is there

if i delete the htaccess file the box pops up for the admin name and password

i enter it and it just pops up again

forget that it works it might have need to update which i dont know might take 3 hours??

the site is showing

but i still have no htaccess file or staccess so will add it and see if everything ok

hi again,

sorry to bother you with me being noob to php stuff, i have installed quite a few now
unbelievably easy is`nt it Very Happy

1. The administration does`nt work when i click on any of them i get blank pages so therfore cannot change sentinel settings.

2. The modules administration when i click on them works.

q1. have i missed something ? the files are all there through ftp upload

sry its done i missed most of the php files in ...ROOT/admin/modules/PHP-files
