Hi.

One of my users can no longer log in. They enter the correct details, but end up on the User Details page (what you see if you look at someone else's details though). They can't see anything on the site that is for registered users, although they show up in the "Who is Online" block.

If I log in as them it all works ok. They are trying to log in from the same location as before.

I'm stumped.

Have they tried clearing their cookies and re-entering the login details?

Yeah, they tried that. Does seem like a cookie issue though.

So this site was up and running fine, and then this one user only has had an issue like this? Is this the only user having the problem? Is this a clean install or an upgrade from another? Have you changed any settings on your site recently? It does sound like a cookie issue to me, but if it is only one user getting this problem, then I would think it is their cookie problem and not yours. I suppose you could always delete the username and have them redo it. Maybe someone here that is much more knowledgeable than I will have a better suggestion.

Yeah, just one user has the problem and there's been no changes to the site. I'm going to let tehm have a play with their browser settings I think.

Thanks for the help.

It is really important that they close all their browser instances but one (or if using a tabbed browser interface, all the tabs) and then clear cookies and cache, then close that browser. Then open a new browser and try again.

Yes, does sound like a cookie issue but it is odd that they are redirected to their profile page.

Since you are able to log in fine with their userid, it is most likely, as you say, a browser issue.

You also might want to have a look at the nuke_sessions table. I had a nuke version 6.9 user with a similar issue. She couldn't get logged in, except to a semi-profile page, but the UserInfo block was still showing her as anonymous. Finally I checked the sessions table and there was her nick. I deleted the record from the sessions table and bingo ... she logged in and hasn't had a problem since. arrrgg, I spent days with her going through the clearing cookies thing and all along it was like a stuck sessions record.

Go figure.

Is there a function that checks the _sessions table, for duplicity or redundancy, prior to login?

What nuke distro has a clear cookies function as part of YA?

Have a happy nuking day.
