Hello,
I want to turn on the (don't know what the heck the name is), but the "type in the following numbers" security add-on for login screen.
However, when I DO turn them on,
I always get a broken link as part of that image. What is the fix for this?
It was working prior, to me setting up my forums.
Any help is apreciated.

Take a look at the config.php file and you'll see the various options in there in the comments. |

Hmm just noticed the last comment in your previous post.
Setting up your forums would not and should not make any difference to the security image as there is no related code. |

You are correct Darklord, I get a redx where the image should be.
However, even more perplexing, is that I've done a direct file location comparison between the website that works, and the one that doesnt, and ALL the images are correct, and in the same locations.
So, I'm still stumped...
btw, yes I DO have the config.php set correctly.

There are several difference ways to get the security code. Do all of these show the red X or only some (which ones):
Login block
User Info block
Your Account
If all three are not working, it has to be a server setup. You may need to find out if GD is installed on the server that is not working. There is a FAQ here on the site and many forum threads that you can review for ideas on how to find that out. Maybe look for phpinfo(). |

Hello,
Yup all 3 show the red x, even the admin login shows it.
This website (which is www . aquariumzone . ca) has the x problem, however my other website ( www. tugeve . net) does not have the problem.
Both are running on THE EXACT SAME SERVER, so their is no way it can be a
server problem. Both are using the same php install, no seperate .ini's .
(btw, this is running on my own server, running off of my own connection).
Thanks in advance,
Spyrule. |

spyrule, you mentioned in a previous post that you compared the image files. You may need to do a complete file comparison across BOTH sites to make sure they really are identical as you say. Also, just because these are running on the exact same server, does not mean with 100% certainty they are configured exactly the same; however, if you are not making .htaccess overrides or domain specific settings in http.conf, then your assumption is most likely correct. That would leave you only one other possibility (unless I am missing something), and that is the "data". Like Guardian was eluding to, you may need to also compare your various preference and forums configuration between the two sites. |

one thing to check, this happened to me a long time ago back when I was trying to install 7.3 over 7.1, I had a blank line at the end of my config.php and lang-english.php and that was causing the problem you are having now. of course a lot of changes have been made since then so this may be a total blind alley but it may be the cause. |

yeah,
no offense, but for the 3rd time.. BOTH SITES ARE ON THE SAME SERVER, and yes GD is installed. Matter of fact, the auth works on one website, NOT the other.
This is very frustrating, because I REALLY want this security feature to work.
I've tried looking at the code, and forcing the inclusion of "Your_Account" into the
command structure, but it still doesn't add it properly.
Anybody know WHERE this link is generated from? |

Defintely a strange one.
The paths look fine.
I'm assuming that no additional hacks/modules have been ad to the aquerium site - I'm thinking something might be over riding the variables of either gfx_check, $random_num or $code |

open the index.php in Your_account module...now this is a theory and it will cause the same problem ur having:
Find:
echo "<tr><td>"._SECURITYCODE.":</td><td>
Now im willing to tell u to look and see if it looks like this:
echo "<tr><td>"._SECURITYCODE.":</td><td><img src='?gfx=gfx&random_num=$random_num' border='1' alt='"._SECURITYCODE."' title='"._SECURITYCODE."'></td></tr>\n"
it should look like this:
echo "<tr><td>"._SECURITYCODE.":</td><td><img src='?gfx=gfx&random_num=$random_num' border='1' alt='"._SECURITYCODE."' title='"._SECURITYCODE."'></td></tr>\n"
see ur security code looks like this:
http://www.aquariumzone.ca/Your_Account?gfx=gfx&random_num=259106
it shoud look like this:
http://www.aquariumzone.ca/modules.php?name=Your_Account?gfx=gfx&random_num=259106
not sure if the nuke is stripping somethin but this is definitley a codeing issue and should simply be a matter of reloading the correct files...perhaps somethin got uploaded wrong...but thats where ull fing the code and i hope this helps. |
