hello aseitz , there isnt realy a specific forum for that.
Allthough you might have a good idea but chances are almost zero that any mod will be included into a distro.
Point of the ravennuke is to bring an good, secure, and very functional nuke version.
I m positive that they dont wanna turn it into a x-mas tree cause we see much of those around...
But you can use any block or module as you like of cource... |

that one is locked so I'll just lay down my thoughts here and see where they go...
I would really like the opportunity to download 1 of 2 RaveNuke distributions...
#1 already exists, a clean / bare ravennuke.
#2 would be the clean distro with everything NSN incorporated into it.
Groups and Sentinel are already done, but why stop there?
IMHO - NSN-* is just plain better. |

Sorry about that. I guess here is fine...
I agree that most (if not all) of the NSN enhancements should be included. Specifically, NSN News and CNB YA (the evolution of NSN-YA), along with NSN-Mailing List are fine enhancements. NSN Banner Ads and Center Blocks would make fine additions to RavenNuke.
One possible exception is NSN Group Downloads. Some prefer other downloads modules, and it seemed Bob was going in a different direction with the Script Depository.
However, I think things like Supporters, NukeWeather and NukeProject should remain as addon modules as they install easily, do not require significant modifications to Nuke to run, and not everyone wants or needs those functions, nor do they replace existing functions in PHP-Nuke.
But why would you want a distribution without them? My concern with that is having to maintain, develop and test different versions. |

mmm, i wonder if people would like all that..
maybe a survey would shed some light on that...
offering something that is compatible or releasing distro's with pre-selected mods are 2 different things... |

well i think that ravennuke should stay clean of all addons.
but power it up by making it compatible with everything...
if its filled up with tons of mods people just as well use pcnuke, nuke Platinum, and a few others.. |

aseitz, I love the avatar!
I also agree with hitwalker that we should beware of adding too much. The problems of that approach are evidenced by other distributions, as hitwalker noted. In addition to making good support very difficult, it can also prevent the easy addition of other addons and require changes to themes (mainly the phpBB mods require this).
Please see my Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! regarding the criteria I believe we should use when considering additions. |
