Hello all often one of my websites lose file permissions which means the pages just show as blank pages???
when I use my ftp I cant change the permissions ??? why is this
any idea`s all

Sounds like something on your server.. perhaps your host is doing something? |

it happens often and my host explains that its a hack???
I can understand it might be a hack but why cant I change the permissions back?

I don't understand.. why would a hacker be doing that?
Doesn't make much sense to me, the host should do something to analyze and stop the actions of this hacker. |

the only reason you wouldn't be able to CHMOD a file via FTP is if you don't have the proper owner permissions. If it's at all possible, see who use your ftp client and look at the file ownership. If it says apache, or root, and you don't have root access, you will have to have your host change ownership to you. |

Yes, it does.
It might be worth checking the files date to see when it was last modified and then checking your server logs for that date to see if there is anything suspicious.
Edited by me: As an after thought, one thing that does seem consistent with this issue is all the sites that have reported this sort of problem are using nuke version above 7.6 I think. |
