Editing Meta Tage with phpnuke

Hi, im trying to edit the meta tags for my site so that google will pick it up, ive got it so that google does pick it up but the writing underneath is taken from part of my website, and i want it to say somthing different.

Example (not my one)

Northeast Fisheries Science Center Fish FAQ
Interesting facts and answers to common questions about fish, shellfish, crabs, lobsters, cetaceans,...
www.nefsc.noaa.gov/faq/ - 46k - Cached - Similar pages

is what it shows on google, where it has all the stuff like "Interesting facts and answers to common questions about fish, shellfish, crabs, lobsters, cetaceans,..." i want to edit that part to say what i want on mine, instead of odd words that it has picked up from my home page.

I went into meta.php in includes and everytime i try to edit somthing in there it makes my site go blank! Shocked

So im wondering what to do? Any ideas?

Also another question i have is, how do i get text to scroll in the status bar saying what i want it to say on my site? Is there a way of doing that with phpnuke?

Sounds like you are causing a parsing error when you edit the meta.php file.

I'm not objective, but I'd recommend looking into nukeSEO, which has a META tag editor for PHP-Nuke, as well as a host of other tools to improve your search engine ranking, including HTML and Google sitemaps.

As for the status bar, that's a javas cript issue. Look on http://dynamicdrive.com for sample scripts that you could add to your includes/javasc ript.php file.

Try using a valid html/php editor as well.

99% of the time or so if you get a blank page after editing a file is because the file got corrupted by whatever editor was being used.

I use UltraEdit. DO NOT use Wordpad or Notepad.

Rofl i added the script for scrolling status bar to javasrcipt.php and the site came as blank. thank god i didnt overwrite! i dont get why it wont let me add to the meta.php or the javascript.php!

Site does come up under google, just doesnt have the text underneath that i want!

ok strange.. anyway i need to add some script into the "head" tags of my site and a bit into the actual "body" tag for it to work..Where are they found?

Body tag is usually your theme.php
Any code for the HEAD tag can be placed in includes/custom_files/custom_header.php (or older versions, includes/my_header.php)
