i want to protect my admin.php file on my site but i am running into problems this is what i have done

Code:
AuthName "Realm Name" 


AuthType Basic 


AuthUserFile /.htpasswd 


Allow From All 


<Files file.xxx> 


Deny From All 


</Files>


obv changed the file and file path

created a .htpasswd file and put in there

username:password

uploaded to my site and still i cannot login using my desired username/password to work any help is great thanks

Search for posts here that detail admin auth - there are specific instructions somewhere.

The password needs to be encrypted before it is placed in the file.
