I've just had a member join my site who is 12. I know that I have the info on config for the forums for coppa forms to be sent to--but is there a way that is somewhat simple for me to request this info at registration?
Give me a shove in the right direction?

This is a real issue for people there are several ways to approach it one being ressurect the forums login system. The next one and probably the easiest would be to create a form that says something like check here if your are 13 or older or check here if you are under 13 and click submit. then have the forms action be to either give an error page you are under 13 sorry we cannont provide service to you at this time. Now how one goes about doing this all is another thing. I honestly can't believe no one has taken this seriously and would assume its because primary developement takes place outside of the USA. Since this is a required feature for many sites it really should be there without end users having to go through all this hunt peck edit upload malarchy.

If no one else has made this available or say within a couple days no one can point you to such a your_account module post back with details of what you'd like to see (In your account) for a coppa compliance mod and what version of phpnuke you are using and I'll work one up for you myself. I'd really rather not mess with the adding of database fields unless you really deem it should be.(Easier to upgrade without changes).

I think a simple yes or no provision during registration should be adaquite for being in compliance. (Though maybe its not I dunno.)

Oh gosh, the ring kissing is getting thick around here...<smooch>
This would be most wonderful. I agree on quickest and easiest, and think that at least with the yes or now provision I am making the effor, and how the heck can anyone wrong me for that?

Ok here is a very very simple COPPA Check.
http://www.netflake.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=21

If you want something a little "sexier" let me know what to change.

This was created on PHPNuke 7.2 Your_Account from the downloads here. Should be good for most recent releases I think?

Files included total 3
README
modules/Your_Account/index.php
modules/Your_Account/language/lang-english.php

Of course please backup the Your_Account files before uploading these altered ones.

No 6.5 doesn't have the Points Sytem and Subscriptions.

As soon as I can grab a patched 6.5 file I'll do that one.

COPPA Hack PHPNuke 6.5 Created From Chatservs Patched Series V2.3 Your Account index.php

http://www.netflake.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=22

Note* I didn't have a 6.5 site to test on so if something breaks let me know.

Note2* I didn't have a 6.5 lang-english.php so the one included may have some missing or more likely extra defines in it.

I should mention if anyone has trouble with this hack and they are using an older version of php change the variable
$_POST
to
$HTTP_POST_VARS

I just figured the SuperGlobal was safer and in use on the majority of servers so I went with it that way.

Has anyone tried this? If so is this fit to pass around or better left buried here in the forums?

Hey sixone, take it while you can get it! I'm not always so sweet!
First time I've been to your new site--I like it. Had visited you before. I'm always on the look out for new resources and help. (Raven needs a break from me).
Speaking of which, where the heck is Nukeum66? I need to pick his brain....

Thanks its pure default PostNuke right now. I got so involved in other projects I really let my little corner of the net go for a while. Frustration over the loss of the old domain its page rank (Google gave me a 4 at one time there) all that good stuff it took a while to develope any enthusiasm at all. I try to maintain a family tree site too and hope to be upgraded to Open Site Manager as soon as AI comes back online with it.

Nukeum lurking nearby maybe?

I lost a domain last year. The end result was I went to PHP-Nuke--6.5 was the most current then.
Got no idea how google ranks me--i just know all of a sudden I started growing faster than I was prepared to deal with

I give--if I got to choose between red x's and 12 year olds I will take the 12 year old. Crying or Very sad
I also lost my security image...
I quit, I got 6 months of hosting left and I'm done---I'm tired
No, I'm sorry--that sounds so ignorant--I'm just tired and don't feel well. I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound unappreciative.
I would just truly love to see a end product that has all the stuff you need without having to pull what little hair I have out trying to get it all, and begging for help to learn.
I'm cranky, I'm tired, and I'm red.
That's my excuse, anyway

Ouch I missed that.

If you send your Your_Account/index.php and the Your_Account/language/lang-english.php to the addy I pm'd to you. I'll add the code to your files so we know its not going to misbehave.

I'm cleaning them up. This was clearly a case of not enough coffee before I started doing things. This is one of my biggest character flaws---I try to do stuff early AM, and late at night (quiet here then)---but I am not awake or tired, and don't pay close attention. Then I go ask stupid questions, realize the answer, get embarrassed, and try to fix it.
I'm a nervous Nellie...
Thanks for registering--I am honored.
