Greetings All,
I am doing real well with the SE's but I have a problem. I am getting a lot of URL's that are indexed in the SE's coming back as http://mysite.com/modules.php

instead of

http://mysite.com/modules.php?name=My_Module

They are cutting me off at the ?'s so to speak.

I know that I can use Mod-Rewrite to change the URls to
http://mysite.com/modules/My_Module.htm

My question is how do I do it so that Goole does not lose my current listings. I assume I use some kind of redirect but there are too many pages to do one liners in the htaccess so I assume I would need some sort of rule....

HELP! I am in over my head AGAIN!

Once you implement a GT solution, Google will continue to scan your site only it will automatically use the .html links. It won't lose current listings; however, it will eventually replace them with the .html links.

Remember that your robots.txt file is critical to defining what you want scanned, versus what you don't.

Hope this helps.

Steph

I'd search the forums for threads on that topic.

The obvious answer is try TegoNuke(tm) ShortURLs 1.0. from http://montegoscripts.com/. Smile

Jake,
He does EXCELLENT work. Anyone know of any reason this should not work with 7.3?

No, it should work fine with 7.3. And, by the way, ShortLinks is a slightly modified GT-NExtGEn implementation and is perfectly compatible with existing such rules. I just didn't want to see that concept die on the vine as its author is no longer maintaining it.
