Moving to another server and HTTPAuth not working!

Hi,

We had no problem to secure admin.php with HTTPAuth inside Admin Sentinel before. but now when we have moved to another server this option is not shown.

We have contacted server admin and they will help us with this but don't know how.

Is there any kind of guid or how to for activating this? What shall they do in server to activate this option?

I appieciate any kinds of help on this.

What I ment was activating this in mysql databases not in .htaccess files!

that isnt in your database,its the server configuration that let it work or not...
your host should know all that.. Wink

no thats all...
with the link i gave you or your host should be able to figure that out...
or he's not a host but a 14 year old kid with a server stored somewhere..

well basically using htaccess features should be standard on hosting accounts...but some prevent the use of some codes in the htaccess.. Sad

Hi izone and hitwalker,

You can manually disable the setting for Admin Auth in the NukeSentinel config table. This will allow you to get access to your admin if you moved servers. You may also need to rename your .htaccess too. You should, of course, re-enable it once you've got access to the NukeSentinel admin function and can see how to set it appropriately.

kguske, Thanks.

To accesseing admin area is not my issiue here. Problem is that after moving I cann't choose HTTPAuth from the dropdown menu inside Sentinel Admin to protect my admin.php anymore. The only option there is CGI auth now.

I've now compared a phpinfo from both servers and every mods that hitwalker, linked to was on both servers. I'm not so sure about if it is something in Apache or MySql server which must be done to anable this option.

Appreciate your help on this.

That has to do with how Apache treats PHP on your server. CGIAuth provides the same protection as HTTPAuth, but requires the .htaccess changes and password file (e.g. .staccess).

But it tell me how to use .htaccess to protect admin.php. What I need is protecting admin.php by using HTTPAuth (script level) .

If you look at this picture:

The only option there for me on new server is "Admin CGIAuth" and before moving I hade both options.

I have a test site on the new server, if you have time and possibility I can pm you url and admin password so you can see it by yourself.

You cannot change having PHP compiled as an Apache module or having it as a CGI module unless you own the server. The host determines that.

Either one will give you Admin Authentication. HTTPAuth works with NukeSentinel, where CGIAuth requires code to be added to the .htaccess file and the creation of a password files (e.g. .staccess). I guess you can use CGIAuth in both cases, but if your server has PHP compiled as a CGI module, you can only use CGIAuth to protect your admin file.

NukeSentinel shows you exactly what code to add to your .htaccess and what to put in your .staccess.
