Hello I was recomended to Ravens site by another forum and I am looking to create a webites that will need php nuke code.
I'm am looking for a few examples of other sites so I can see what modifications may be made and what these sites can look like...
For my site I'm looking for the following.
password protected areas.
application to join.
galleries.
forums
chat
shopping carts.
a way to have members edit their own galleries.
member pages that may be edited by members.
a way to ban members if needed.
The ability to start very small maybe 5 galleries/member pages and be able to grow to over 1000+ and keep the flow growing smoothly...
The ablilty to use your product with minimal knowlage of codeing
(I barely know xhtml)
I love to learn but not build a site from scratch
I would love to see some examples of what is out there using this product.
Thank you for your time.

I'd suggest starting with http://www.ravennuke.com - the test site for the soon-to-be-released RavenNuke 2.10 (based on PHP-Nuke 7.6 with lots of enhancements, etc.). You can look at the forum signatures of other members here to see other example sites.
If you want to limit membership to approved users only, you'll want to get the Approve Membership or the CNB Your Account addon. Not sure about Approve Membership, but CNB Your Account can ban members, and there are forum mods that support similar functions.
The Gallery addon should give you the gallery functionality you need, and phpBB forums are built-in. The Journal module can give members their own pages.
There are some chat addons available, though many hosts don't allow that as these functions (whether or not they are part of PHP-Nuke) are prone to bandwidth abuse, security holes and other maladies.
Using a distribution like RavenNuke - with security and many enhancements built in - as well as a super simple installation - will minimize the knowledge necessary to install and use it.
Hope that helps... |

For Gallery you can look at my ravennuke 2.10 test site, Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
It has an up to date version of Ravennuke together with Gallery. You should be aware that Gallery is a separate application and that installing it can require some expertise and effort. You will also need some administrative effort to assign albums to members ... you won't want a free for all where you just let members upload willy-nilly I don't think. Once you give them ownership of an album they can put their own pictures in there.
Right now, there is not really a very good path for approving membership. You either need a beta type add-on like CNBYA (I've never used that) or a significant effort at implementing the Approve Membership module. One of our moderators, Montego, is working on an Approve Membership Light type of application but it's not available yet. The requirement is well recognized in the community ... it's just a matter of time and effort to get it done.
The security add-on NukeSentinel that comes with Ravennuke gives you the ability to ban IP addresses and other means to "screen-out" certain actions and users but spam continues to be a problem as it is throughout the Internet. |

hrm interesting....
I have looked at gallery before
What I am looking for is kind of like a small 10 images gallery like what can be found on
MM
or OMP
type thing
I don't need hundreds of images just a few for each user... |

For Gallery I use Coppermine not sure if its what your after but you can check it out. I have about 50 groups sites and have had no problem.
I have a back up chat applet in case main chat server is down and you can create rooms with it as well. Both these work of data base.

Then you are extremely lucky, I get over a dozen attacks a week trying to exploit Coppermine and I don't even have it installed!! |

Not saying I recommend it, but I have a few sites with Coppermine and they haven't been successfully attacked. They are, however, attacked - though I haven't used Gallery so I have no basis for comparison. Maybe Gallery is attacked, too... |
