this seems like it may be a difficult task to create this sort of module that i'm looking to get made, unless im just a newb and one of you guys could do it in your sleep lol.
anyways, i run an automotive related site ( Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!) which uses phpnuke. i'm wanting to create a "vehicle profile" section, and here is what i would like to see done to it:
- users can upload up to 5 pictures of their vehicle (make one picture a default picture), and fill in some info about their vehicle (year/make/model, engine, interior, exterior, suspension, wheels, future plans). having the option to change the amount of pictures allowed for certain groups would be nice (incase i want to make it a paysite)
- a ranking system so users can rank the vehicle on a 1-10 scale
- under the ranking system, i would like a comments section where other users could post comments to the owner of the vehicle. i would like an option for the vehicle owner, admins, and moderators to be able to delete comments if neccessary.
- i would like vehicles to be categorized by year/make/model so the users have an option to select from a list what types of vehicle they want to see. after they select their options and click submit, a table will appear with an icon of the manufacturer, default thumbnail, year/make/model, username, rank score, total views of that profile, and last update date. i would also like to have the option to be able to view the newest created profiles, newest updated profiles, and highest ranked profiles.
- when users with a "vehicle profile" post in the forums, i would like a button created so other users can click the button and go to their vehicle profile (example: kinda like if you have AIM, or ICQ info filled out, the button appears).
------------------ *center* blocks for the module ------------------
*all blocks would include the default image, year/make/model, and the username.
- top 10 (or a set value) most viewed profiles of the day
- top 10 (or a set value) highest ranked profiles
- 5 (or a set value) newest created profiles
- a random "vehicle profile" that includes the vehicle info (engine, interior, exterior, suspension, wheels, future plans).
i know this is a lot to ask for, but i think it would make an awesome addition to my website (and future websites) and draw a ton more traffic and users. not to mention it would be really cool!
for some examples of what im looking for you can view www.streetsourcemag.com on the homepage they have the top 5 profiles of the day and here is a link to their "reader's rides" section: http://www.streetsource.com/OwnerProfiles.aspx?menufrom=top
so who's up for giving me a price quote and doing the programming? |

Gallery will let you upload your pictures. It will let you and other users put in comments. It could probably be twisted around to do some of the other stuff but not that easily ... in my opinion and having worked with it for a couple of years. I don't know, for instance, of any way to REQUIRE a user to fill out certain fields, such as make and model. And once you put your pictures in the internal Gallery storage area it's not that easy to get at them for other purposes, you are pretty much restricted to using Gallery's programs. I could be wrong but I'd have to see it done with Gallery to believe it.
This does sound more like a custom module to me and it's a good job of initial specification writing. |

thanks for the idea, hitwalker, but i believe it is more of a custom module as well. i dont see anyway you could search for specific year(s), make(s) and/or model(s). i think thats one of the biggest capibilites im looking for. |

quick example of the main search feature
and when you click the thumbnail of the vehicle you want to see, it takes you to a page like this (another quick example):
i want a table like this added to the Your_Account module
when you click the Edit link in the Photos column, it takes you to a page like this (another quick example):
when you click the Update link in the Options column, it takes you to a page like this (another quick example):
* when creating a new Vehicle Profile, it will use the same style page, only without the "Comments" section.
if you click the "click here to upload photos" link in the Profile Photos Update Center, it will take you to a page like this:
