In any event, it looks like the same edits need to be made to categories.php.

I get there through block-categories.php or click on any category link in any story... assuming you have categories set up.

for example:
modules.php?name=News&file=categories&op=newindex&catid=3

BTW, I have loaded these changes into our code repository and have asked CodyG to take a look again at them. These will be a part of the next patch release, so thanks again Gremmie and CodyG!
