I am having trouble finding where the sid is stored for the user management control in the phpBB AdminCP.

I am running a standard 7.5 nuke as an internal only intranet site so I didnt need rn2.x with all of the bells and whistles. What is happening is that when I go to the AdminCP of the forums and I click on Management under User Admin I get the message "Sorry, that user doesnt exist"...when I should get a search box for looking up a user.

The only thing that I can figure would be that the SID doesnt match from when the install was first set up and now. I have messed with the db from time to time and dont remember exactly what I have done.

But the link for Management points to....

http://192.168.2.31/nuke/modules/Forums/admin/admin_users.php?sid=5cb667104757a8c299a5c0673XXXXXXX <-(changed the last 7 digits for security)

I am thinking that the sid is the encrypted password for the admin account? right?

And looking at the current encrypted pw for administrator it is

280391ffa7b6b85f27f0c7baeXXXXXXX<-(changed the last 7 digits for security)

Everything else seems to work fine other than this one thing. I dont want to start over because I have alot of time in getting email notifications to work on the LAN....plus modded a calendar to work...not to mention the file attachment mod.

All of the mods work....but I really need to have user managment so I can create mods and such.

Any and all help is appreciated.

I believe there are known issues trying to use the phpBB user creation / activation. Personally, I would shut that off, as you need nuke's Your Account module to do this for you.

The "sid" that you are referencing is really not related to login per se. You can ignore it.

montego,

Thanks for the quick reply but I think you are misunderstanding me(I sometimes, if not often make things more complicated by overexplaining them)

Im not trying to create a user in phpBB....but rather manage users in the forums on phpBB adminCP.

If you go to the forums management console (what I refer to the adminCP of the forum) you will see at the very bottom in the menu bar "User Admin" section. From this section there is a "Management" link which when clicking should give a search box for users to manage.

You are correct in that you can do most of the user management from the AdminCP "Edit Users" in Nuke...however if you want to make someone a moderator you have to do it from the forums management link. Which when I click on it...it says..."Sorry, user doesnt exist"...or something to that effect.

Anyway...I need to make a few co-workers moderators so they can police the company intranet site which is phpNuke driven. But without this function working...I guess I will have to manually do this via the db. I dont want to start over because I have modded this install to the point that its gonna be a pain to have to start from scratch.

If there is anything else you need to know about this install....feel free to ask.

Thanks again!

The User Management issue should not be related to the sid. We need to know exactly what version are you using, what exactly you are doing, what messages you are getting.

sid is the session identifier. That helps phpBB keep track of the current user logged in.

evaders,

As I stated in my initial post I am running a standard install of phpNuke 7.5 I have modded it slightly to include a calendar mod, file attachment mod, and tweaked the SMTP since I am running this toally on a LAN but wanted the user activation email to work.

Everything works great except for when I go to the phpBB Administration panel....and then to Management under User Administration. When you click on Management a user search box should appear so you can type in (or search for) a user to manage their settings. I instead instantly get a "Sorry, but that user does not exist." message. And again...it should should get a "Select a user" box that has a textbox to enter the user and/or a search button to search for a user. Once you select a user to administer. The only thing different with the phpBB user administration over the "edit users" in phpNuke adminCP is the last section "for admins only" which allows you to set wether a user is a moderator or not and what rank they have. Plus a few other things like if they can recieve PM's and disable their user account.

Again....as soon as I click on "Management" in the phpBB control panel under "user admin"....it doesnt give the select a user box....but rather the message I stated..."Sorry, but that user doesnt exist".

Thanks for your help in advance!

Also...thanks for clearing up the SID misunderstanding I had.

Just to add. I created a 2nd Super User admin and get the same result. So its not related to the main GOD admins account.

Okay, so no upgrades to either the Patched files or BBToNuke?

I've loaded up my test site, 7.5 + Patched + BBToNUke 2.0.21 and I cannot duplicate this

No...no upgrades at all.

The reason I wasnt worried about patching or upgrading is because this is a company intranet thats running on the LAN only.

I have been using Nuke for about 3 years now and have never had this issue before. The only thing that I can think that could of caused this is I emptied a few of the database tables because of a problem I had with the attachment mod at one point. So I wiped the associated tables to the attach mod...then I emptied the nuke_users table and that solved it.

Do you think that emptying the nuke_users table could of created this issue?

The odd thing is that the message I am recieving is a valid message if you enter a non-existent username. But it never shows the search box....just goes straight to the message when you click on "management".

Mm well, do you have any users currently?
Upgrades do fix bugs as well as security issues, so that would be the first thing I recommend doing.

There are only a couple accounts at the moment and no staff are using this version on this server. So I dont mind to remove all of the users and start over in that regard. I just want to make redoing the whole deal a last resort since I have alot of time with the external SMTP mailer...not to mention the calendar and file attach mods.

I will work on this when I get back to the office on Monday and report any success or lack there of.

Thanks for the suggestions.
