Well, Raven has the only "official" word on this, but the product is in "final" quality assurance testing and there has been a freeze placed on changes except to fix show stopper issues (like serious bugs that are uncovered). Given that it is October 28 as I type this, October might be optimistic but some time in November wouldn't be.

Having tested it, I can tell you that it is definitely worth waiting for.

I was thinking that I should have added that many, most, maybe 80% just on an impressionistic basis, of the so-called show stopper bugs we are finding are bugs that were basically "left over" from legacy Nuke and not anything that was caused by Ravennuke development.

I'd be willing to work on a 7.9 conversion script. Smile

Gremmie, this may have already been discussed - did not have time to look above - are you talking just a "downgrader" script like what Bob Marion did for 7.7 - 7.8 found at http://www.nukescripts.net?

I'd vote - and support - something that will take a 7.7 through 8.0 database, core tables and downgrade them to 7.6. Obviously, would be nice if it could be "smart enough" to even know what to do with different versions of BBtoNuke (phpBB integrated tables).

I am have been thinking for quite some time of writing something that would be able to do a comparison of any nuke database to a core "standard", as dumped / defined as an XML file, both structure and possibly any key data that would be required to change to work in the "target" database version (not sure what that would be, but just thought that I'd mention it).

This would be an invaluable upgrade / downgrade tool for RavenNuke.

Yes, a downgrader script. When I first discovered this site, I asked if the 7.8 downgrader would work for 7.9 and I was told no. I have since muddled along with 7.9, making many fixes to my 7.9 site myself and getting it working reasonably well. But once the new Raven comes out, I will be downloading it and trying it out. I will be spending some time trying to get my 7.9 site converted to Raven, and if successful I would be glad to contribute my efforts back to the community. Or work with others who want to do the same.

What version of phpBB will be in the upcoming Raven? The latest?

Yes the latest 2.0.21 will come out

Generally downgrading the BBToNuke tables would be redundant if Raven sticks with the latest BBToNuke. To upgrade: you would need to downgrade those tables and then upgrade them again? Does that seem like nonsense to anyone else?

Just so many different versions in use. Would be nice to have a "smart" installer, one that could recognize important database differences and "do its thing".

BTW, forgot that I had this. Might be worth looking at: http://www.mysqldiff.com

howard, all any of us on the team can say is it will be ready when it is ready. I am hoping for a Christmas present for all, but the final decision rests with Raven. When he says its ready its ready.
